ANZ staff in Temuka moved into temporary offices in the car park behind the bank yesterday while their premises are being earthquake strengthened.
It is unknown how long the remedial work will take.
ANZ regional manager Dunedin and north Vaughn Keenan said he hoped the bank would be completed in weeks rather than months but it was the landlord's responsibility.
The leased bank buildings in Waimate and Geraldine are also being strengthened. Three attached cabins comprise the Temuka staff's temporary offices.
He said the bank wanted the building to be up to standard, and it was not in its current state.
Mr Keenan said he hoped the temporary site would not inconvenience customers too much but pointed out the original building would be a better premises in the long run as a result of the work.
