Your chance to be next big thing
Talented performers wanting a shot at X Factor NZ stardom will get their chance to shine in Timaru this week.
A pre-audition tour for the popular talent show will reach Timaru tomorrow.
More than 100 hopefuls kicked off the tour in Queenstown on Saturday, before selectors continued to Invercargill on Sunday. Dunedin performers had their chance to impress the judges yesterday and Oamaru's talent is on show today.
The pre-audition tour of X Factor NZ will cover the length of the country, stopping in 27 locations over the next month.
Contestants who are successful in the pre-auditions will go on to perform in front of four judges and a live audience.
Judges confirmed so far include Brit Award winner Daniel Bedingfield and multi-platinum recording artist Stan Walker. Two female judges have yet to be announced.
Co-executive producer Andrew Szusterman said the aim was to find the country's next "big" recording star.
"If that is you and you're a singer, aged 14 and over as of January 2013, I want to see you perform at one of our pre-auditions," he said.
"It's the opportunity of a lifetime and I encourage you to start preparing now."
The competition follows the same concept as the X Factor in the UK, America and Australia, which launched the careers of popular boy band One Direction, Leona Lewis and Reece Mastin.
The X Factor NZ will air later in the year on TV3.
Auditions in Timaru will be held from 10am till 5pm tomorrow at West End Hall, in West End Park, Maltby Ave.
