Fishing company Sanford has pleaded not guilty to discharging contaminants into Timaru Harbour after an oil spill in May last year.

Environment Canterbury laid the charge against Sanford, after one of its boats spilled more than four tonnes of oil into the harbour.

The matter was called at the Timaru District Court yesterday and adjourned until March 13.
