There is a lot of love in Timaru, florist Alice NcNeill says.

She and colleague Sharon Tweedie have been tackling the mad Valentines Day rush at Absolute Flowers on Stafford St. Orders had been coming in since Monday for everything from single blooms to dozens of mixed bunches.

Apart from the obvious commercial aspect, she said there had been plenty of mystery around this year's day of love.

"It's a lot of fun, people just showing they care."

It's not cheap to share the love - a dozen wrapped roses cost around $150.
