Work on repairing a split pipe fitting which led to part of the concrete concourse at Timaru's new aquatic centre being ripped up is almost complete.
The leak was first discovered a fortnight ago, but was neither easy to find nor repair, Timaru District Council district services manager Ashley Harper said yesterday.
The damaged fitting turned out to be beneath the concrete in the pool hall, and a portion had to be dug up to start the repair.
Water from the leak was contained in tanks beneath the complex, although the actual amount lost through the faulty fitting was unknown.
At some stage the new concrete would be resurfaced to match the surrounding area.
The cost of the repairs would be met by the contractors, Ranger Construction.
