Temuka Lions members picked up 1000 bales of pea straw from Ashburton for a fundraising project.
A Temuka transport company supplied transport as well as staff members who volunteered to help. The bales will be sold for $7 each at Plantorama and the money raised will go into club funds for local community projects.
Work is starting in the next few weeks on the Lions' $14,000 upgrade of shade sails and picnic tables in the children's area of the Domain.
