Waimate's council is opening its doors to the public for a look at facilities not normally on display.
The activities start on Friday, March 1 at 9am, and include a complimentary barbecue in the council car park where departments including GIS mapping, roading, civil defence, building and rural fire will set up and talk with people about their work.
Tours will include the Timaru Rd bore, sewage ponds and animal control.
Waimate information officer Donette Fargher said the tours would be an opportunity for people to learn how the facilities work, and talk with the staff who operate them.
A programme of activities is available from council, library or the information centre.
