So many items have been donated of such good quality that the Temuka St Joseph's Primary School fair committee is happily overwhelmed.

Chairwoman Janine Steinmann said they had been collecting "stuff" since November for the March 23 fair and the community had been generous. As well as the usual books, clothing and white elephant ornaments, they had received some high-end pieces such as paintings, a weedeater, art deco style chairs, a modern freezer and lamps.

As a mother of two at the school, Mrs Steinmann is hoping the fair will raise about $15,000 towards technology equipment at St Joseph's.

She said as well as entertainment from a clown and the Temuka Pipe Band, the fair would have plenty of food stalls and games.
