Library computer system down
Timaru District Library's new computer system is down this morning.
Timaru District Libraries manager Michelle Miles said the new system, Kotui, responsible for lending and managing library collections, had shut down about 11am.
While librarians were initially entering information manually, a back up system was now operating.
''At this stage it's too early to tell when it will be back up and running,'' she said.
The system was introduced in September and makes it possible to search the physical and electronic resources of the library from a single access point, such as a computer or smart phone, from home, school, or a business from within the library.
The Kotui system was introduced by the National Library. Timaru District Libraries was the 11th public library group to adopt the system.
