Rush of calls to plumbers
Plumbers in Temuka were rushed off their feet with roof leaks and blocked pipes during the recent storm.
Temuka Plumbing Co owner Nigel Kerslake said it was a testing time for any roof as continuous rain fell for most of the week. He said moss and leaves blocked down pipes.
Though the sizes of pipes were set by building code standards for different intensities of water and tended to be on the high side of average, debris could still get stuck causing overflow.
He said maintenance was the key to ensuring clear pipes.
