Naleah makes her mark on royal dayEMMA BAILEY
When Timaru's Arihia Childs went into labour at 3am yesterday, she had no idea her princess would share a special day with the royal prince.
Across the other side of the world in St Mary's Hospital in west London at 3.24am (NZT) Prince William and Kate welcomed the 3.8 kilogram (8lb 6oz) heir to the throne.
Seven hours and three minutes later Ms Childs welcomed her girl Naleah Lorraine Tumai at 10.27am weighing 6lb 13oz at Jean Todd Maternity Ward.
She was the first to give birth in Timaru following the arrival of the royal baby.
"I went into labour at 3am and came to hospital at 9.45am. I didn't even know the royal baby had been born until after my birth.
"I'm just glad she's here, I have been having contractions over the last five weeks because she decided she wanted to come early."
Baby Naleah was eight days early and has three older sisters and an older brother to look after her.
