Drivers are at last getting the no-parking-over-driveway message, police say.
At the start of the rugby season police were issuing infringements to people illegally parking near Alpine Energy Stadium, in the west end of Church St, but the situation had improved.
"We certainly had a few at the start of the rugby season," Sergeant Simon Heeley said. "Since then I haven't seen more come through, so it seems it has done the trick."
But on Friday, a Bowker St resident reported receiving a ticket for parking over her own driveway. That could hold up emergency services needing access. Then at the weekend a council vehicle was photographed parked over a driveway but no ticket was issued as police were not called.
