Supersized corner dairy
New dairy factory taking shapeTIMARU HERALD STAFF REPORTER
Construction of the $214 million Oceania Dairy factory in South Canterbury appears to be moving a steady rate with work on the boiler under way.
The milk powder plant will be on the corner of Cooneys Rd and State Highway 1 in the township of Glenavy.
The project features two major components - the dryer tower and the boiler.
The plant will employ about 100 people and have a capacity of 47,000 tonnes of milk powder per year.
The powder is to be exported to China and used in the production of infant milk formula. Construction is expected to be completed by July 2014.
