Exhibitions at Aigantighe: Pat White's Gallipoli, and Jane Powell's Fluidity. At the Aigantighe Art Gallery on Wai-iti Rd. Up until Sunday, May 21. Free entry.

Exhibition at York Street Gallery of Fine Art: Ruth Killoran, a collection of her paintings and sculptures, at 21 York St, up until June 4.

Waimate Theatre Company's Wizard of Oz: 7.30pm and a 2pm matinee, at Waimate's Regent Theatre. May 19 is gala night from 6.45pm, and May 20, 26, 27 show starts at 7.30pm. Matinee at 2pm on May 21. Tickets on sale from Parkers, Queen Street, Waimate (03 689 8772). Prices are $30 for adults, $20 for senior citizens, $15 for students, and a family (2 children, 2 adults) $75 with extra children $15 each.

Show: The South Canterbury Drama League presents Winston's Birthday, at The Playhouse. Winston's Birthday will be staged at The Playhouse on Church St, Timaru, from 7.30pm on May 19, May 20, May 24 and May 26. A matinee will be staged from 3pm on May 21. Tickets cost $24 and are available from Newman's MusicWorks on Stafford St or on online from iticket.co.nz


Friendly meet up: 9.30am - 1.30pm at Harlequins Rugby Club rooms on Church St. Morning tea, $3 and a two course meal for $12 at noon. We have Housie in the morning, a movie and also other entertainment every month. Everyone is welcome, just pop in, no booking required. Saturday and Sunday

Timaru Scooter Derby:  Three events running. The first at 6am on Saturday at Centennial Park, the second at 5pm on Saturday at Phar Lap Raceway, and the third at 6am on Sunday at the Timaru International Motor Raceway. An opportunity for anyone to have a go racing with their dogs on either scooters, bikes or just running. Costs $10 per event, or $25 for all three. Justice of the Peace: 10am to 12pm at the Timaru Library. South Canterbury Justices of the Peace are in attendance to witness and certify documents. No charge.

Band playing: 7pm at the RSA building on Wai-iti Rd. Th' Art of Cheese will perform.
