Suggestion for lights is made
Pedestrian crossing lights have been added to the Geraldine Community Board's wish list.
The board has recommended flashing orange lights be installed on Talbot St, adjacent to Robbie's Milk Bar, warning motorists to slow down for pedestrians on the busy stretch of road.
Geraldine ward councillor Kerry Stevens said at this stage the concept was only an idea.
"That was just a suggestion so the council roading staff will look at that and ... prepare a report on the issues as they see them and the best options to ensure pedestrian safety."
He does not expect improvements on the matter would be made immediately.
"It's a long road to someone having a suggestion, to having it approved by council. We are not experts in road safety and a lot of other matters. It's been raised ... but it's unfinished business as yet."
