Health concerns go two ways
If you were out and about on State Highway One last week you may have seen sisters Hannah and Phillipa Pehi and friend Maikara Ropata.
The trio reached Timaru last week on their walking journey from Bluff to Cape Reinga.
Their's isn't a journey of raising money for some particular charity. Instead it is about promoting community and promoting environment.
"There are so many people doing wonderful things for their community and for their environment. We wanted to discover them and what they're doing and share it," said Hannah.
The trio all hail from the upper North Island.
"We're walking home," said Phillipa.
They believe a healthy environment and a healthy community are one and the same thing and want communities throughout New Zealand to realise that.
"You can't have one without the other, and it's time for people to realise that and learn from our past mistakes." Hannah said.
"The state of the environment isn't as good as people like to believe," said Phillipa.
They've called themselves Kiwi Wondering, and their journey through New Zealand can be followed on Facebook.
