A Tinwald man has been given nine months' home detention for selling cannabis.
Christopher Leon Weir, 23, was sentenced in the Timaru District Court yesterday on four charges: possession of cannabis for supply, possession of cannabis utensils, male assaults female and intentional damage.
In January, police seized 14 tinnies and a bag of cannabis material along with tinfoil and a pair of scissors with cannabis residue on them from his address.
Weir told police that he was making an extra $100 per week selling cannabis.
The court heard he punched a woman twice in the face after punching out the windows of her car and smashing the windscreen in December last year.
