Wind fears prompt fire callout
It was a case of better be safe than sorry when a fire crew was called to a South Canterbury property last night.
The crew from Washdyke was called to Spur Rd at 8.15pm following concerns a controlled burn of an old mai-mai could have been fanned when last night's expected southerly hit.
Station officer Brian Stone said the weather was the main cause of concern.
''The weather forecast didn't look very favourable last night.''
