Nasty shock for woken woman
A Timaru woman was terrified when she woke last night to find a male intruder sitting on her bed.
The man, who was not known to the woman, had entered the house through an unlocked ranch slider door, senior sergeant Randel Tiki Tiki said.
"He's just opened it and walked in."
He said the woman challenged the man before he fled. The woman was not harmed in the incident, but was a ''little bit shaken''. She was unable to provide a description of the man to police.
No one has been apprehended in relation to the matter.
Mr Tiki Tiki said it was a warning to people to make sure their doors are locked before they go to bed. Another incident, three weeks ago, resulted in a woman being attacked in her Temuka home.
The intruder, a man, allegedly broke into the woman's Birkett St house at 12.15am on October 13 and assaulted her before fleeing.
Police said the woman confronted the man.
He was European, of solid build and about 172 centimetres tall. He was wearing a black hoody with white ''gothic style'' writing on the front.
Constable Richard Pattie said police have not yet apprehended anyone in relation to that incident.
''I'm certainly still interested in any info that can be brought forward, but at the moment there's no fresh leads.''
