Korean holiday-maker killed in Twizel crash
Police have released the name of the driver killed in a car crash near Twizel on Saturday.
He was Taewook Kim, 26, from Korea.
The only passenger in the vehicle was Jeogsu Kim, 24, also of Korea, who is currently in a critical condition in Christchurch Hospital.
The passenger and driver are not related, but were on holiday together.
South Canterbury police area commander Inspector Dave Gaskin said the car the men were travelling in, a Toyota Vitz, pulled out of State Highway 80 into the path of a truck travelling on State Highway 8, shortly after 12pm.
"The driver was killed instantly," Mr Gaskin said.
