Replacement light control box offers
A damaged traffic light control box near the Clandeboye dairy factory could be replaced by January.
The control box was ripped from its foundation at a one-way bridge in Factory Rd and dumped in the Orari River on December 4.
It was estimated it would cost the Timaru District Council at least $20,000 to repair it.
Offers of second-hand replacement boxes have since been received from Auckland Transport and the Wellington City Council, council land transport manager Andrew Dixon said.
"We are checking the compatibility with our control system and are highly likely to accept one of the offers soon."
Police have not yet caught the culprit, who is thought to have committed the offence using large agricultural equipment.
