Heritage property to get makeover
A landmark building in Waimate is getting a coat of paint.
Rollinson Engineering on High St is to be freshened up in heritage colours. Waimate District Council is funding $1000 of the $10,420 cost to complete the job.
The preparation work and two top coats will be funded by the business with a request for assistance with the heritage colour paint purchase.
Council support services manager Carolyn Johns said the funding request fitted the guidelines for a heritage grant. The building has a heritage category C listing in the proposed District Plan. Councillors voted to process the application.
Rollinson Engineering owner Mark Rollinson moved his business into the premises two years ago - it was formerly W A Blackies.
"We're trying to tidy it up. It's withstood quite a few earthquakes."
