At the end of its third year the Temuka Combined Churches foodbank continues to give out food parcels to those in need.

November saw the churches make 18 deliveries which is about the same number as last year.

The five churches involved are: Temuka Baptist, St Joseph's Catholic, Trinity Presbyterian, St Peter's Anglican and St Mark's Methodist.

St Joseph's Catholic Church secretary-treasurer and foodbank volunteer Colin Scarsbrook said if people asked for help they were given it.

"We don't judge. If they ask for help they must need it," he said.

Some of the recipients are regulars but the majority ask reluctantly only once, according to Mr Scarsbrook.

"After three visits we advise them to get budget advice."

The community and local businesses have been very supportive of the foodbank, Mr Scarsbrook said.

"We are fortunate many Temuka service organisations are willing to help."
