Wallingford puts on mini Christmas
Railway, street lights and water featuresAL WILLIAMS
Wallingford Home nurse manager Raewyn Mehrtens is mad about collectable village miniatures.
She has been stockpiling them for several years and has finally set them up as a working village - complete with railway, street lights and water features.
And it's all for a good cause. Residents of the home talked with her and came up with an idea to put the village on display to the public in exchange for a gold coin donation.
Residents wanted to help 9-month-old Noah Valentine, whose parents are trying to raise money so their profoundly deaf son can have a cochlear implant.
The village will be on display at Wallingford Home in Temuka between 7pm and 10pm tonight and tomorrow.
