Big game animal sale a success
New Zealand's first game animal sale has proved to be a big success.
Mount Cook Trophy Hunting owner Neville Cunningham, who offered a variety of game animals for sale by tender at his Timaru property on Thursday, said the sale was so successful, he would hold the event again next year.
"We had over a 50 per cent clearance of the animals offered," he said.
"The bison have sold, so too have the white red stags, most of the trophy elk and trophy red stags, the arapawa rams and the chamois.
"We are also negotiating the sale of the white tahr plus more of the elk and red deer stags. Overall, a great result."
