SERVICE HOLIDAY: Some rubbish collection services are affected by the statutory holidays.

As we glide through the silly season, a number of Timaru District Council services and facilities are having a break too.

The council office itself will be closed now until Monday, January 6.

The Timaru, Temuka and Geraldine District Libraries will all be closed today, tomorrow, and New Years Day and January 2.

The Aigantighe Art Gallery and South Canterbury Museum will be closed on New Year's Day. The gallery will be closed today and tomorrow; however, the museum will be open between 1pm and 4.30pm tomorrow (Boxing Day).

Timaru households which normally put their rubbish out on Christmas Day can expect them to be picked up on Saturday. Households which would normally put bins out on New Year's Day need to put them out on the following Saturday, January 4.

In the CBD, Boxing Day green bins are to be put out on Friday and New Years Day's yellow bins need to be put out a night early on New Year's Eve. Green bins normally put out on Thursday, January 2 are to be put out Friday, January 3.

In Temuka, Geraldine and Pleasant Point central business districts, Boxing Day bins need to be put out on Friday and green bins which would be picked up on Thursday January 2, need to be put out the following day.

CBay and district swimming pools are all closed today but open again tomorrow.
