Trail of crime ends in Oamaru

A Christchurch man's crime spree has caught up with him in Oamaru.

The 25-year-old, who cannot be named, appeared in the Oamaru District Court yesterday in relation to offences that took place in Christchurch the week before Christmas.

Police arrested the man at Oamaru at 7.40am, after executing a search warrant, Senior Constable Stuart Dowling said.

"He was interviewed subsequent to the warrant and admitted the offending."

The man pleaded guilty to six charges of using a document, one charge of attempting to use a document, two of theft and one of unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.

Mr Dowling said the man had broken into cars, stolen items in the cars and then used those items. The man was remanded in custody to reappear in the Christchurch District Court for sentencing next month, Mr Dowling said.
