It's not too late to enrol for both the Lake Tekapo Community Board and the Fairlie Community Board by-elections.

Register of Electors for the Waitaki electorate Carol Johnston says if eligible voters haven't enrolled in time to get their voting papers in the mail, they can still enrol and cast a special vote.

"If you think you are enrolled but haven't received voting papers in the mail, you need to update your enrolment details and cast a special vote," she said.

"It's getting to crunch time. "Anyone enrolling from now on will have to apply to their local electoral officer to cast a special vote. Locals who are on the unpublished roll will also need to apply to cast a special vote in the by-election."

Mrs Johnston said people who enrol between now and polling day will need to contact electoral officer Paul Morris at Mackenzie District Council to get information on how to cast a special vote.

To enrol or update your details, call 0800 36 76 56; free text your name and address to 3676; check your details and enrol at any PostShop or download a form from the elections website: www.elections.org.nz

Clarification: Enrolments are not required for the Lake Tekapo Community Board by-election. Because only one nomination was received, no voting papers will be sent out.
