Timaru Christian School has received a helping hand and a fresh new look thanks to some good Samaritans.

Over the past two weeks the Mobile Mission Maintenance Team (MMM) has been painting the exterior of the school buildings.

The MMM is an international mission organisation established to help the Christian ministries with their building and maintenance needs.

Timaru Christian School principal Bethany Rentoul said the school supply the paint and the MMM team provide the labour and tools.

She said it was a blessing to have the team help as the school's caretaker had begun painting the front of the building by himself at the start of 2013.

"It's a lot of area to cover for one person so we approached MMM who had helped us with the interior of the school when we moved to the site in 2010," she said.

While on the job, team members live in mobile homes spending around three weeks at each location.

Team leader Rod Heape joined the MMM in 1987 and has worked on MMM projects all over the world.

"I wanted to work for the Lord fulltime and MMM is the type of ministry where I had the skills to help."

Mr Heape said it was interesting seeing how the Lord worked in the lives of other people and nations.

He said it was tremendous being on the move all the time and meeting up with Christians around the world.
