Zoe in the Pink after 'Talent' win
Tackling the big songs of Adele, KT Tunstall and Pink paid off for Geraldine singer Zoe Scott, who has just won Pleasant Point's Got Talent.
The 15-year-old won the senior section of the competition on Sunday with her performances of Black horse and a cherry tree and Dear Mr President.
Before progressing to the finals, Zoe sang British singer Adele's One and Only. She said that since Adele was such an iconic singer, some people were a bit "iffy" about someone her age singing Adele's songs, but that didn't bother her.
"I just love them, I don't care what people say."
After the competition, the judges told Zoe that Pink's Dear Mr President really suited her and she connected with it, which she was thrilled to hear.
Zoe started singing when she was 7 but she doesn't actually get around to practising all that much, just singing around the house.
Her singing teachers are Lois Johnston and Sharlene Diamond.
"We rang her (Sharlene) right away after we won and she was screaming with excitement."
Zoe won $1500 in prizemoney which, she said, will go towards her singing lessons.
It was Zoe's first time competing in Pleasant Point's Got Talent, although in the past year she sang during the judges' deliberation.
She has also successfully competed in country music competitions, which have helped her with her stage performances, but she said she is leaning more towards being a jazz and blues singer.
Zoe wants to keep going with her singing and also pick up the guitar more.
To hear Zoe singing, check her out at the Country Cafe in Geraldine on Feb 7 and the Village Cafe in Highfield Mall on March 2.
