This weekend Timaru has massive opportunity to race up the Gigatown leader board - and one lucky person will win a $200 pressie card.
Chorus is running another mini competition encouraging towns to get the most sign-ups for big (and I mean BIG) bonus points! Timaru could find themselves sitting in third place come Wednesday if the whole town jumped on board.
Currently we have 1022 Timaruvians signed up to support our bid to be Gigatown. If we double this figure and finish with the most sign-ups on Tuesday night we could have an additional 100,000 points! "What's the point? Timaru seems to be miles away from the lead," I hear you say. Actually, Timaru isn't that far off the mark at all. We only need to finish in the top five by September to make the finals and this is our best chance to cement our spot there.
Chorus have worked out our population to be around 42,000 with surrounding towns included, this means there's over 40,000 more opportunities to get people signed up. And by taking a few minutes to sign up it gives you the chance to change Timaru forever.
Best part? Signing up is actually really easy!
All you need to do is these easy steps and you could win yourself something!
1. Go to gigatown.co.nz and "click join up" (fill in these simple fields.)
2. Check emails and click "activate account" (check your junk folder too, just in case.)
3. Click continue
4. Choose Timaru as your Gigatown 5. Win a Pressie Card. This step is optional - but if you sign up between now and Tuesday night, send your confirmation email to email@example.com and go in the draw to win a $200 pressie card, thanks to Dennison Joinery. (The winner will be drawn on Wednesday.)
You won't get spammed emails and for that few minutes of your time the benefits for Timaru are massive: Faster and cheaper internet and a massive $200,000 development fund.
Timaru, this is your chance for change, and we all deserve to win this - join up.
Like "Gigatown Timaru" on Facebook too, as our Gigatown Giveaways resume on Wednesday and with another amazing prize donated by another of our amazing local businesses.
