Pleasant Point's historic Model T Ford railcar is awaiting repairs for a twisted chassis after a collision with a car last week.

The railcar had its motor pulled out and front wheels taken off in order to assess the internal damage.

Pleasant Point Railway and Historical Society president Bryan Blanchard said it would be a big job to fix the damage but it wasn't as bad as that which the other vehicle involved sustained.

The society was waiting for word from a Pleasant Point panelbeater today as to how long repairs would take and how much it would cost. The repairs are covered by insurance.

Mr Blanchard said it was an inconvenience to have the railcar out of action as it was supposed to be running daily until February 23. In the meantime a diesel locomotive was running in its place. Mr Blanchard said it was still attracting visitors.
