Occupants escape injury
Three people escaped serious injury following a two-car crash near Tekapo this morning.
The crash occurred on the corner of Godley Peaks and Tekapo-Twizel Rds at 11am.
Tekapo Volunteer Fire Brigade chief Craig Willis said the incident happened when a van stopped on the road and was rear-ended by another vehicle.
He understands two people were in the van. The driver was the sole occupant of the other vehicle. All occupants were checked by St John.
Both vehicles had significant damage, Mr Willis said.
''They were damaged enough that they won't be driven [again], that's for sure."
