Noah now just 16 days away from hearing
In sixteen days Noah Valentine will hearALEXIA JOHNSTON
Timaru boy Noah Valentine is geared up to hear for the first time.
The youngster, who will turn one in February, had an operation last week to have cochlear implants inserted.
The device is designed to help severe to profoundly deaf individuals who gain little or no benefit from hearing aids.
Noah's cochlear implants will be turned on for the first time on February 13. His operation was made possible after the community raised $62,500, which was $12,500 more than the family needed.
The extra money will go back to the community groups which donated it, so someone else can benefit.
Noah's mum, Sara, said Noah had recovered well from the operation.
"He's as good as gold. He's bounced back to normal."
She said the community support had been "fantastic".
"[We] are incredibly grateful."
