A Timaru woman pitched a tent and set up camp on the lawn outside the Work and Income New Zealand (Winz) office on Strathallan St yesterday, intending to stay there overnight as she had nowhere else to go.

Gina Ruddell launched her protest over a dispute with Winz and the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).

She said last night that her ACC payments were cut off two weeks ago in what she claims was an oversight.

"ACC won't pay me and Winz won't pay me because they say I'm entitled to ACC. The welfare system is flawed."
