Luxury ship Seabourn Odyssey docked in Timaru yesterday with about 450 passengers taking in the sights and sounds of South Canterbury.

The 32,000 gross tonnage ship, designed and built in Italy, , arrived about an hour later than expected, but unseasonal weather did not deter passengers from visiting shops and attractions for the day.

Excursions offered included a tour to Geraldine, Peel Forest and Mesopotamia, highlights tours around central Timaru and South Canterbury, a visit to a sheep station, and a viewing of Maori rock art.
