Mishap still under scrutiny
An incident at Lake Benmore which left a 73-year-old man a tetraplegic remains under investigation.
John Gascoigne, of Timaru, suffered a broken neck after he became tangled in a rope while putting a boat into the lake near Twizel. The incident happened on December 28 while he was helping a relative unload the boat at the Ohau C ramp.
Senior Constable Bruce Dow said it was not too late for people with information about the incident to come forward.
"The investigation's still ongoing, with key people yet to be interviewed."
Mr Dow had hoped people would come forward with video or photographic evidence of the event as it unfolded, but he has not yet received any.
