RUNNING HOT: Heather Knowler, 70, will be gunning it on the waterways of South Canterbury on her new jetski.

A jetski is just what a grandma needs, Heather Knowler joked, as she waited to receive the unexpected prize in Timaru yesterday.

The 70-year-old grandmother of 11 won the jetski part of a Sanitarium promotion through Flybuys and New World Timaru.

"My grandchildren are just so excited about it and they are all thinking: 'Where will we go with it?'"

Her win came as a surprise. "Initially it was disbelief. We had just been on holiday and came home to this. It's a great phone call to get."

Her husband, Rex, said since that call there had been some "interesting" discussions, with some people struggling to believe the news. "No you haven't," people would say, when they heard about the win.

The topic of conversation had already provided plenty of laughs.

"It's one of those things. [You think] 'you've got to be kidding', but it's great," Mr Knowler said.

The jetski was the only one to be won in the South Island in the competition.
