Council approves change
The Geraldine Downs district plan change has been given final approval by the Timaru District Council.
At its meeting on Tuesday, the council signed off on plan change 17, designed to manage development on the Geraldine Downs.
Geraldine ward councillor Kerry Stevens noted that the original plan change had upset a number of Downs residents. "They felt they were listened to by the commissioner."
Independent commissioner Allan Cubitt and district councillors Pat Mulvey and Tracy Tierney heard 68 submissions in April. The final decision was not appealed.
The initial plan proposed that a landscape plan by a qualified landscape architect be provided for all buildings, with native plants to be eco-sourced. This has been modified. A buffer zone around Talbot Forest was also rejected.
