WISHING FOR SUCCESS: The Rotary Club of Temuka Geraldine has set up a wishing well project for both towns. Money raised from each of the wells will go back to their respective communities.

Wishing wells could soon boost Temuka and Geraldine's prosperity.

The Rotary Club of Temuka Geraldine has donated wishing wells to both towns, with the aim of bringing in more money.

Club president Ernie Heatlie said a similar concept in Timaru brings in between $1500 and $2000 a year.

"We should be able to get that fairly easily [particularly in Geraldine], provided [tourists] give us local coins. The money raised in Geraldine will be used for Geraldine charities and vice-versa for Temuka."

He said the concept, which was supported by a range of local companies, also aims to increase awareness of the club.

The Geraldine wishing well is at the entrance of the Four Peaks shopping area, on Cox St. It is yet to be decided where Temuka's wishing well will go, Mr Heatlie said.
