NAPPIES GALORE: Kim Scott, left, with 6-month-old Jacoby, and Danielle Stevenson with 4-month-old Lilly, look at the different types of cloth nappies available along with other mothers.

Creating a buzz around cloth nappies is the inspiration behind Cloth Nappy Week.

And as part of that, about 20 mothers and their tots participated in a coffee group event at the Timaru Parents Centre yesterday.

They discussed all things cloth nappy-related and enjoyed a cuppa, a prize draw, nappy giveaways and a chance to chat with other cloth users.

Kim Scott, organiser, and mother of 6-month-old Jacoby, said the special week is a chance for like-minded mothers to come together and discuss any problems or queries.

"Cloth nappies come in a range of styles and are reusable and versatile and they are good for your baby," said Mrs Scott.

Kate Meads, the national "nappy lady," is the force behind the week and her website is useful for information mothers need about cloth nappies, she said.

"There are so many different nappy styles out there that it can be mindboggling. The nappy lady has made life much easier."

Kidsstuff"s Danielle Stevenson discussed the range of nappies available and demonstrated the best way to use them.
