Three Timaru-based community organisations have received funding from the Community Trust of Mid and South Canterbury.
At its final meeting of the 2013-14 financial year, the trust donated $31,244 towards projects being undertaken by community not-for-profit organisations within the Mid and South Canterbury region.
In Timaru, Caroline House, which provides drug addiction rehabilitation services, received a donation of $6000 for vehicle replacement.
The Citizens Advice Bureau South Canterbury gained $5000 towards operational costs and the South Canterbury Traction Engine & Vintage Steam Club received $1600 towards the costs of staging their 50th Anniversary Rally at Easter.
The Community Trust uses income from investments to fund its philanthropy, including $143,365 to the region's schools & kindergartens to alleviate hardship, and $680,906 across 110 community based organisations for community projects.
Approved donations for the financial year totalled $824,271, compared to the $808,928 handed out last year.
