Timaru Boys' High School student Guy McDonald has been selected to take part in the 11th annual Sir Peter Blake Youth EnviroLeaders Forum.

Guy, 16, will join 49 other environmentally focused teenagers in Wellington to learn about ocean health and climate change, and may also have the opportunity to be selected for the next Subantarctic Young Blake Expedition.

Guy was selected from close to 200 applicants competing for a spot at the five-day forum later this month.

During the forum, students will have the opportunity to be involved in a range of activities including a climate change workshop, a leadership development course with the New Zealand Defence Force, and learning about ocean health from scientific, economic, fisheries, recreation and iwi perspectives.
