HOLDING PATTERN: Motorists can expect nearly another month of traffic delays north of Timaru.

Work on State Highway 1 near Dominion Rd, between Temuka and Timaru, is expected to be completed at the end of this month.

The NZ Transport Agency's journey manager, Lee Wright, said the work is progressing well and the project remains on schedule.

This work includes some safety improvements at the intersection of the state highway with Lynch Rd and the northern entrance of Acacia Drive to improve both visibility and access for vehicles turning in and out of the side roads.

''This work will result in longer traffic delays of up to 10 minutes, until the work is completed at the end of April, with temporary speed restrictions in place and single-lane, stop-go traffic operations,'' Wright said.

All highway road resealing maintenance work done by NZTA within South Canterbury was finished last Friday, about a week later than originally scheduled. Wright said the delay was the result of poor weather conditions earlier in the project.
