A man has been arrested after shooting a high-powered air gun at cars in Northland today.

The 28-year-old Oakura Bay resident will appear in the Whangarei District Court tomorrow charged with reckless discharge of a firearm.

Whangarei Police Station sergeant John Larkin said two vehicles were hit by pellets from the gun.

He did not know whether the vehicles were damaged or drivers injured.
