An Australian tourist, 23, has had to delay his return home after being charged with drink driving (816mcg). The man was due to return to Australia on Monday, but he will now appear in the Christchurch District Court.
A Timaru youth, 19, has been charged with theft after being found upstairs in the Timaru RSA shortly after midnight. He was carrying a Maori carving which he handed over when spoken to.
