A Dutch national, 19, was rescued in Mt Cook National Park after falling 15 metres while crossing Copland Pass today.
The solo climber was uninjured but became trapped in the mountain terrain. Constable Joe Rush, of Twizel, said the man had activated a locator beacon about 5pm.
The Mt Cook Alpine Rescue Team was dispatched and rescued the man using a long-linr stop.
A Timaru man, 18, drove into the intersection of North St and Craigie Ave and hit another car driven by a 26-year-old Christchurch man shortly before 2pm on Wednesday.
No injuries were reported but both vehicles were heavily damaged.
A Timaru youth, 17, was arrested for stealing his stepsister's Ritalin.
A Timaru man, 33, was arrested for breach of bail. In the same incident, a Timaru woman, 20, was arrested for resisting police.
A Mt Peel man, 18, told police he feel asleep while driving, causing a one-vehicle crash in State Highway 8 near cave on Thursday. The man was not injured
