Once a fortnight we buy two cheese and mince pies from a local shop served by very pleasant staff.
This week I went in to purchase our two cheese and mince pies which used to cost $7.40 for two. I put over $9 and was told they had gone up to $9.60 for two. I had to go back to the car and get another 60 cents off my wife.
I was shocked by the huge price increase which amounts to 24.5 per cent or $2.20 for two pies.
Just imagine if the supermarkets put everything in their store up by 24.5 per cent per item. There would be a lot of hungry people around Timaru.
I hope the owner of the shop gives some of the increase to his hard-working staff.
