Lloyd Prattley had to fight for the South Canterbury Indoor Bowls singles crown in a nail-biting final against Alan Reid.
Prattley got off to a good start but Reid played great draw bowls to even the score at 4-4 after six ends.
The score changed back and forth until the penultimate end, with the scores tied at 10-10, before Prattley took the final end to win 12-10 and take the title for the first time.
Prattley had qualified with three wins from four games in post section play.
His victories were comfortable until the semifinal against Ron Marsh.
Both played great draw bowls but Marsh got away to an early lead until the eighth of 15 ends when Prattley found his weight and scored on the next three ends to draw level after 10.
Marsh kept up the pressure to again take a three-point lead, with two ends to play, before Prattley again drew even at 11-11.
The last end went to Prattley with a single shot.
