Craig Domigan continued his good form to win Cycling Timaru's 65km race in a tight sprint from Glen Gould, with Jeff Best third.
The hilly Southburn course took its toll on the nine handicapped groups, especially the stiff climb up Caird's Road.
The winning break mark bunch hit the front on the third and final lap and they were hotly pursued by the scratch trio of Reon Park, Kyle Wood and Tim Rush who were 90s behind them at the line.
Park recorded the fastest time of 1hr 32min 43sec.
The senior points leaders are Julieann Archbold from Domigan and Graeme Legg.
The under-17 cadets rode one lap of the same block. Daniel Goodwin won convincingly from Cameron Prattley and Samantha Sorenson.
Regan Holland finished fourth and recorded the fastest time of 36min 12sec in holding out Chris Hogg and Phillip Knubly.
The 16 development riders braved the ride up Cairds Rd hill and, after the sealed handicaps were calculated, Oliver Smith was declared the winner from Thomas Allan and Jack Lister, while Jonathon Fish was the fastest in 14min 35sec.
